After working for a decade as a petroleum engineer, Carl established a law firm practice more than 30 years ago that focuses on Real Estate and Oil & Gas, as well as litigation in those areas. He is a frequent speaker and writer on developments in the law that impact business decision-makers and entrepreneurs. Lisa Rothberg Aquino joined Doré Rothberg McKay in 2012. She directs the liens and transactions practice for the Firm supervising several attorneys. Lisa has also been a speaker and author in legal and industry publications on subjects including mineral liens, commercial collections, and best legal practices in the oilfield services industry.

 

Lisa earned her law degree from South Texas College of Law and was admitted to practice law in Texas in 2010. Lisa earned her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Texas A&M University in 2006.

Zachary McKay joined Doré Rothberg McKay in 2013. He supervises the litigation and bankruptcy practice of the Firm directing the efforts of a team of attorneys and paralegals. Zach has been a lecturer and teacher for seminars and courses in legal subjects including defending preferential claims, enforcement of liens, and legal developments in the oil & gas industry.

 

Prior to joining the firm, Zach worked at a bankruptcy firm that specialized in representing Chapter 7 and 11 bankruptcy trustees. His primary area of practice is Bankruptcy and Business Restructuring, with a focus on representing oil and gas industry creditors.  Zachary has represented both secured and unsecured oil and gas service company creditors of all sizes (including seven of the top twenty largest in the world) from start to finish in over 80 oil industry chapter 7, complex chapter 11, and chapter 15 insolvencies across ten states and three countries since joining the firm. Zachary has also counseled clients through countless creditor committees and preference exposure positions. When not working on bankruptcy matters, Zachary focuses on assisting clients with lien rights and other oil & gas related issues.

Zachary earned his B.B.A. in Management from Texas A&M University in 2009 and his J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 2012. While at South Texas, he was a member of several award winning moot court teams, and a Note and Comment Editor on the South Texas Law Review.

Tom Whiteside has been an attorney and businessman in the Houston area for four decades. He became Of Counsel to the Firm in 2018 and is active in client servicing and business development.

Tom was the managing partner of a business and litigation law firm in Houston for almost 20 years. Beginning as a tax CPA, his positions have included CEO of a local bank, President of an investment banking company, an executive at the FDIC and General Counsel at a music company. After decades as a resident of Houston inside the loop, Tom moved to Katy where he loves the spirit “Out West.”

Tom has a considerable breadth of legal experience representing business clients in real estate, M&A, loan workouts, collections, contract negotiation, and litigation, reorganizations, and all manner of business disputes. In the past decade, he has helped his peers and their families with estate planning and probate matters.

Tom and both of his sons are Eagles in the Boy Scouts where they have been active for many years. In his younger days, he spent a summer sailing the Caribbean.

Maria Bartlett joined Doré Rothberg McKay in 2019. Her primary areas of practice are Bankruptcy, Litigation, Civil, Oil & Gas and Real Estate.

In 2013, Maria earned her Juris Doctorate at the University of Mississippi and was admitted to practice law in November, 2013. In 2015, Maria earned her LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Houston Law Center.

Lauren Morgan joined Doré Rothberg McKay in 2018, after her time at the international law firm Norton Rose Fulbright. There, she served on a litigation team for a multinational oil and gas corporation involved in a fatal blowout in North Dakota. She also led a discovery team for a high profile international merger for a major semiconductor and telecommunications equipment company.  Through her experience at Norton Rose Fulbright, Lauren has developed specialized knowledge and resources in litigation, including litigation strategy, discovery and civil procedure—all of which she brings to our clients at the Firm.

Lauren graduated magna cum laude from Texas A&M University. Lauren clerked for Justice Ken Wise of the 334th Judicial District Court in Harris County who was later appointed to the 14th Court of Appeals. Lauren also competed for Texas A&M on their Trap and Skeet Team throughout her time in College Station.

Lauren graduated with her Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law. Lauren’s law school internships included the legal department at EOG Resources, one of the largest independent crude oil and natural gas companies in the United States, as well as Doré Law Group. Additionally, Lauren served as the Vice President of both the Oil and Gas Law Society and the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators for two years, the Secretary of the Hunting and Rifle Association for two years, the Student Representative on the Faculty Curriculum Committee, and received the CALI Award in International Petroleum Transactions for the achieving the highest grade in the class.

When she is not litigating, Lauren enjoys hunting, saltwater fishing, being outdoors, watching the Texas A&M Aggies win, and spending time with her several dogs.

Kiara Gradney joined the Doré  Rothberg McKay in 2017 with a wealth of litigation experience. She has tried over a dozen cases as first chair and been co-counsel in many more trials to judges and juries. Kiara has participated in more than a hundred negotiated lawsuit settlements. While at the Firm, she has advised an oilfield services company client charged with a criminal violation due to a well site oil spill accident on a surface location.

Kiara chose to study at LSU Law Center because of its curriculum in oil & gas and international law. She went on to receive a special degree to understand the challenges of jurisdictions that are not governed by common law. Her experience as an Asst. District Attorney in Galveston County has been invaluable because of her trial experience and knowledge of the prosecutorial terminology. She puts her knowledge to work at Dore′ Law Group to help our clients across the U.S. and abroad.

Kiara is a part of the Litigation Practice Group of the Firm. Most of her clients are services companies in contract disputes or trying to recover unpaid account receivables. She is good at finding compromises but is not afraid to go to trial when a good solution cannot be negotiated.

Kiara is the youngest of nine children. She does pro bono legal work for lower-income clients as her way of giving to the community. Kiara loves to travel, and her most recent trip was to Dubai to visit a sister stationed there on active duty for the U.S.​

Christina Heeth has worked for Texas law firms handling commercial real estate and litigation matters. Her experience runs from reviewing leases to defending breach of contract disputes.

Christina joined the Doré Rothberg McKay in 2018. In addition to real estate and litigation, she also handles organizing and reorganizing business operations, and estate planning, including drafting and probating wills.

 

Christina’s grandfather was a professor of organic chemistry at Western Kentucky University, and she grew up in The Woodlands, TX. She is a self-proclaimed animal person and a “foodie”.

Allyson S. Johnson joined the Doré Rothberg McKay in 2019.  She graduated from Baylor University in 2009 with a B.A. in International Studies with a focus on Asian Studies.  Prior to joining the firm, Allyson worked as a paralegal for a boutique commercial litigation firm in Houston. 

 

Allyson earned her Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law Houston.  While in law school, she interned for Chief United States Bankruptcy Judge David R. Jones.  Her primary area of practice is bankruptcy and litigation. 

 

Beginning with her grandmother and her father who is a bankruptcy attorney, Allyson is a 3rd generation lawyer. She also had a grandfather who was an ambassador and diplomat with the foreign service around the globe.

 

Originally from San Antonio, Allyson has lived in the Montrose area of Houston for the last decade.  She is a self-described “foodie” who loves cooking, dining out at Houston’s best restaurants, and traveling to experience new cuisine.  She has traveled abroad to 13 different countries and plans to visit more.

Haley Morrison joined Dore Rothberg McKay in 2018. Her primary areas of practice are commercial and residential real estate, Business Organizations, corporate Estate Planning, Wills and Probate.

In real estate, one of Haley’s main areas of expertise is drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial real estate contracts. Her experience with our firm includes negotiating and finalizing multiple commercial leases, and representing both Landlord/Sellers and Tenant/Purchasers.

Haley also has extensive experience in both Probate and Estate Planning. Whether you are preparing a Will for yourself or you need to probate an estate for your loved one, Haley can provide sound and clear legal advise.

Haley earned her Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law Houston and was admitted to practice law in 2016. During law school, Haley was an officer in the Family Law and Probate Society, where she coordinated multiple events with Real Estate and Probate attorneys as well as many Judges in order to facilitate relationships and networking opportunities for students.

Haley lives in Cypress, Texas with her husband of 15 years and nine-year old daughter.

Will Rutledge joined Doré Law Group, P.C. in 2019. Prior to joining the firm, Will held various positions in sales management, sales operations, property management, sales training, and systems training for fortune 500 telecommunication companies.  Will received several commendations and awards for outstanding sales, service, and client satisfaction results.  He received an “Unsung Hero Award” for exceptional teamwork on production projects.

While in law school, Will began his law experience by serving as a law clerk for a Texas Board Certified commercial and residential real estate attorney.  After graduating law school, Will worked for a busy and prominent family law firm that specializes in representing children and parents of children in matters involving asset protection, custody, care and other complex matters often involving special needs children.  In one particular case, Will was involved in clearing legal obstacles for an out of state organ transplant to occur in a critical, life or death situation.  Will also assisted the firm’s principal attorney in and out of court in numerous ad litem and amicus attorney case appointments.  Will has also worked for an award-winning criminal law firm that specialized in federal and state criminal appeals. Will has also counseled and represented clients complaining of breach of contract, deceptive trade practice violations, and debt claim disputes.  

Will earned his B.B.A. in Management with honors from LeTourneau University in 2003, his Master of Divinity with honors from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2008, and his J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 2015.  While at South Texas, Will and his wife received special recognition from student organizations for their hospitality, commitment, and service to student associations. In his spare time, Will enjoys performing volunteer work and spending time with his wife and daughter.

Andrija “Andre” Stanojcic started at Doré Rothberg McKay at the bginning of 2018. He was raised in an oil and gas family and grew up in the oil patch. Having a petroleum engineer father who worked for a major oilfield services company, Andre moved around from town to town in Texas and Alberta, Canada. Growing up in small oilfield towns, Andre learned the importance of hard work and getting along with people from all backgrounds and walks of life. His family finally settled in Houston where he finished high school, his undergraduate studies, and law school.

Andre earned his Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law Houston. During law school, he clerked with in-house counsel at two different oil & gas services companies. Andre was also an officer in the Oil and Gas Law Society and is still active in the school’s Energy Alumni Association. He also wrote one of the first articles to be published in the new Energy Newsletter by the Harry L. Reed Oil and Gas Law Institute at STCLH. Before joining the Firm, Andre worked at a large personal injury litigation firm in Houston where he worked on high-value tort cases involving large commercial insurance policies.
